Day 10 - Blessing Giver

Scripture:
"....and in you all the families of the earth shall be Blessed..." - Genesis 12:3

Abraham was a faithful man who was blessed of the Lord. However, God didn't bless Abraham just for Abraham's sake. He blessed him so that through him others might be blessed.

When God blesses me he doesn't bless me for me, although I do receive a blessing from his kindness. He blesses me with the idea that I will bless others. He blesses me so that I can be a greater blessing to those he has encompassed around me. I can be a blessing to my family, my friends, my neighbors, and yes even my enemies. This truth carries the idea of freshness. Blessings flow to us from God and are to flow out from us to others.

God's blessings are to be overflowing blessings. His blessings are to overflow and not accumulated. It isn't God's intention to bless you so that you can hoard and store His blessings in large barns or reservoirs. You are be a river of blessing to others.

This principle works both in the material realm and the spiritual. Spiritually we should be overflowing. Do we seek God's spiritual blessings to store them in great barns? If we do then it doesn't take long before we become stagnate pools. If we are to abound in spiritual blessings we must overflow to others. We are to be rivers of living water not stagnate cisterns.

Do you want to be rich in the blessing of the Lord? Then take your mind off from seeking to accumulate blessings and realize you are to be a blessing. You are to continually bless those that surround you. The more you release to other the more God pours in to you. Do you find your life shallow in the blessings of God? Perhaps the answer is in your output more that your intake. Maybe all you are doing now is taking in. Now would be a good time for you to start pouring out to others. When you do you will discover how much more God will pour into you.

God does not bless us to become stingy self-centered hermits but to be overflowing fountains of living water. Abraham discovered that through him all the families of the earth would be blessed. Isn't a good time for you to find out how many you can bless? You may not bless all the families of the earth but perhaps a few more than you are now.
