Day 27 - Fitness

Scripture:
"Lord I will follow you but let me first......" Luke 9:61

To follow without hesitation or delay is something that must be developed in our lives. We all are prone to be more devoted to our own reason, motivations, or plans. How often have we said to the Lord, "I will do this or that but let me first do this"?

In the natural realm, the realm of our physical bodies, we develop harmful habits. If we are not watchful these habits develop undesirable conditions in our lives. Changing those undesirable conditions may be very difficult to do, because of the bad habits that brought them. To change our conditions we mush change our habits. If we make the decision to change then over time we will reap the benefits.

Spiritually we need to develop the good habit of immediate obedience. Not delayed obedience. You know the kind of obedience that comes after we have argued and made excuses. If we will learn to immediately respond to the voice of the Spirit and obey we will discover a new life of abundance and inexpressible joy will be the end result.

Today I would like us to ask ourselves what excuse are we giving God for not obeying him immediately? Are we giving him a multitude of excuses? Are we giving all kinds of explanations why we cannot do it now? Perhaps what we need is the discipline of self denial, the discipline of being more spontaneous than analytical or the discipline of ridding ourselves of excessive busyness (some folks are just too busy for God to use them).

What spiritual blessings are you being deprive of simply because you are not in good spiritual condition? Shape up by making the decision not to make excuses but immediately obey the leading of the Master.
