Day 5 - Alone
Scripture: Alone. Do we know what that means? We live such cluttered lives that being alone is somewhat of a peculiar idea. God, however, intends on bringing us to a place where we are alone, where he can commune with us. It isn’t until he has brought us to that place of solitude that he can communicate and explain his purpose. When he does there is something that burns in our hearts like the burning light of a laser. His truth is etched indelibly upon the walls of our heart. "And they said to one another, did not our hearts burn within us while he talked with us on the road..." (Luke 24:32) "And he opened their understanding that they might comprehend the scriptures." (Luke 24:45) Getting us to a place of isolation take some doing. Circumstances have to be orchestrated in such a way as to bring us to a place of restlessness, frustration, and dissatisfaction. We often feel like this place of restlessness, frustration and dissatisfaction is so wrong a state of existing. We often seeks a way of excape. We feel many times like the enemy of our soul is at play in our life and circumstance. Perhaps the opposite is true. Perhaps it is God who has designed our dissatisfaction to strip away even the "good things’ in our lives that clutter our souls in order to bring us to a quiet and lonely place. That is where we meets God again, when we are alone. It is in that time and place where God comes along side us. He begins to break the bread of life (the word) to us. He communes with the soul explaining things like never before. It is like the intense light of the laser burning His truth to the soul. Something that may have never occurred had not we been pressed into the dark corners alone. Yet we are never alone are we? "[Let your] conversation [be] without covetousness; [and be] content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee." - Hebrews 13:5 |
