Day 6 - An Undiscouraged Maker

Scripture:
"He shall not fail nor be discouraged,
till he have set justice in the earth." - Isaiah 42:4

Discouragement was not an attitude of our Lord. No matter how long he waited for his purposes to come to pass, He wasn't discouraged. Discouragement, however, is our common friend. But should it be? Can we arrive at a place in our spiritual journey where no matter what events pass in our lives we do not become discouraged?

If you and I are walking stride for stride with the Lord, should we ever become discouraged? Perhaps not. If we are walking in complete faith and confidence in him and are simple resting upon his faithful care, should we be discouraged? I am sure we should not, but to often we do.

We become discouraged when we exalt our own expectations. It is unfortunate that we are often guilty of imagining how God is supposed to move in certain circumstances. It is when those imagined expectations are not fulfill, that we because depressed and discouraged. Furthermore, we can also become discouraged when we embrace something that God has said he would do, yet he doesn't do it in the time frame we thought he would.

Notice today's scripture verse. It says that he would not fail nor get discouraged until he has set justice in the earth. Has justice been fully established in the earth? All these many centuries have passed, yet this promise has yet to be fully realized. In spite of this, He is not discouraged. We need to learn something from that today. If the Lord has yet to get discouraged over the fulfillment of an expected event (justice set in the earth) should I be discouraged regarding my life and destiny?

There are always things yet unfinished in our ever progressing lives. If you have become discouraged over anything today stop it. If our Lord and Savior isn't discouraged even while the fulfillment of justice in the earth is yet to be realized, you and I can endure a little longer the delays, setbacks, and disappointments we are facing today. So let's decide today not to be discouraged.
