Believing God

Are You Believing God
For Great and Mighty Things?

Jeremiah 33:3 Call to me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.

But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that comes to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. – Hebrews 11: 6

Are You Really Believing God?

What are you really believing God to do? It is not about what you can do with our meager human resources, but about what God can do despite our meager resources. We are expecting God to great and mighty things. He is a Great God. Why would he not show himself strong on behalf of those that fear Him? God is looking for faith-filled people who will believe His promises.

An Unwilling or Unbelieving Heart
Is Always Displeasing To God

Jesus Was Hindered
[] Mark 6:5 And he could there do no mighty work, except he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them. 6 And he marveled because of their unbelief.

Faithlessness is Sin
[] Romans 14:23 And he that doubts is damned if he eat, because he eats not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.

Drawing Back is Displeasing to God
[] Hebrews 10:38 Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.

There is Danger in Unbelief
[] 2 Kings 7:19 The officer had said to the man of God, "Look, even if the LORD should open the floodgates of the heavens, could this happen?" The man of God had replied, "You will see it with your own eyes, but you will not eat any of it!" 20. And that is exactly what happened to him, for the people trampled him in the gateway, and he died.

Holding Back Is Sin
[] 2 Kings 13:17 And he said, Open the window eastward. And he opened it. Then Elisha said, Shoot. And he shot. And he said, The arrow of the LORD'S deliverance, and the arrow of deliverance from Syria: for you shall strick the Syrians in Aphek, till you have consumed them.
[] John 4:35 Say not, There are yet four months, and then comes harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.
[] 2 Corinthians 9:6 But this I say, He which sows sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which sows bountifully shall reap also bountifully.
[] Galatians 6:7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man sows, that shall he also reap.

Believing God for a Great Tomorrow

As pastor I am believing God for souls, healings, deliverances, miracles, answers to prayer, revival outpourings, presence of God manifest, transformed lives, restored marriages, backsliders restored, missionaries called, prayer warriors raised up, gifts of the Holy Spirit demonstrated.

I am asking God for spiritual growth, numerical growth, financial growth, building growth, leadership growth, volunteer growth, giving units growth, tithers increased (doubled), financial blessings of bequests, inheritances, legacies, foundations, grants.

  • I am believing and trusting God for a million dollars for this first stage of our building program. Ultimately I believe God will raise up 4.5 million dollars over the next 20 years.
  • I believe God is going to enable us to add the pastoral staff to make us achieve His goals; (ie) reaching the children and the next generations of this community.
  • I believe God is going to raise up a children’s ministry that will stand as an example for thousands of churches over the next 100 years.
  • I believe God is going to call an army of youth into full time service, particularly full time missionaries. (30 missionaries in the next 50 years)
  • I believe God intends for us to be a leadership church and to set the pace for church growth and leadership development.
  • I believe God is calling us to be a praying church that is not afraid to believe God for anything. (Is anything to hard for thee? Jeremiah 32:17, 27)
  • I believe God is calling his church to be a passionate church, that loves Jesus Christ passionately and is zealous of His lordship in their lives and in the community.

What Promises Are You Claiming?

We can and will limit growth and blessing by our unbelief, or our reluctance to trust God for great and mighty things. If our hope is only in what our own meager resources can do we will be indeed spiritually impoverished and miss God’s blessings.

Are you believing God for miracles, or just passively hoping they might happen?

Are you envisioning a bright tomorrow, or a tomorrow about the same as the past?
