Isaiah 26:3-4
A Mind That Is Stayed

The mind is a terrible thing to waste. We have all heard the expression "Haste makes waste." A mind that is constantly aggitated, running to and fro, worried about this, planning for that, anticipating the next move, is not a mind at rest. There is nothing wrong with a busy mind. We should all have diligent and intelligent minds. But when the mind is racing it cannot rest.

Israel refused to slow down and give value to eternal things. God wanted to be to them a Father, a comforter, a provider, a friend, but they wanted nothing to do with that. They wanted the benefits of being God's people without the intimate relationship with the Father. They delighted to be the recipients of His blessings but not spend time with Him the Fount of all blessings. They used God just like so many other created things. God will not be used. He wants to be discovered, loved and enjoyed by His children.

We cannot know God and experience Him when our minds are rushing off to everything else. Knowing God requires a disciplined mind that stops the flood of other-thoughts and focuses or fixes its mind on Him. God expressed it well through David who fixed his love upon God alone, "But my people would not hearken to my voice; and Israel would none of me" -- Psalms 81:11

Do you want to be a God-lover? Then discipline your mind daily to spend time alone with God and your mind STAYED UPON HIM. Only then can we know our Heavenly Father and truely fall in love with the Lover of our Soul.
