7. The grass withers and the flowers fall, because the breath of the LORD blows on them. Surely the people are grass. 8. The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God stands forever." 9. You who bring good tidings to Zion, go up on a high mountain. You who bring good tidings to Jerusalem, lift up your voice with a shout, lift it up, do not be afraid; say to the towns of Judah, "Here is your God!" 10. He, the Sovereign LORD comes with power, and his arm rules for him. See, his reward is with him, and his recompense accompanies him. 11. He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that have young.

Isaiah 40:7
The word of our God stands forever."

Find comfort in this: "The word of the Lord stands forever."

God wants you to know that the words of the Heavenly Father here are not just to Israel in the time before Christ. These words are for you and me and they stand forever. Peter says in the New Testament, "Know this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. 21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost." - 2 Peter 1:20-21. That means that God did not intend His word for a limited group of people, but He was able to speak by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit to every generation through that same word. These words of God in Isaiah are for you and me -- every one of them. The old chorus says it so well:

Every promise in the book is mine
Every chapter every verse, every line
All the blessings of His love divine
Every promise in the book is mine.
Peter agrees with that as well when he said: "Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature..." -- 2 Peter 1:4

Since that is true why don't you mark down some of the most precious of God's promises to you as you read and meditate on Isaiah? You will find them comforting and helpful in seeing God as your loving Heavenly Father.
