For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Isaiah 9:6
His Name Is... To You

Isaiah received a revelation from God concerning the Messiah, the Anointed One, who was to come. This is the same Anointed One he spoke of in Isaiah 53, and in Isaiah 61. We know hin as Jesus, because 2,000 years ago an angel spoke to Joseph and Mary and said "You shall call his name Jesus" (Matthew 1:21, Luke 1:31) and in the same breath he affirmed Isaiah's prophecy saying, " they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us." (Matthew 1:23) WHAT A NAME!

It is good to think on His name. Malachi prophesied blessings upon those who often "think on His name."

"16 Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name. 17 And they shall be mine, saith the LORD of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him."
Every year during the Christmas season I pour over the Names of Jesus and God to choose one name that will accompany me all through the year. During the year I post it on my computer or refrigerator. I study it. I memorize it. I learn all I can about it. The names of Jesus in Isaiah 9:6 is a good starting place if you are new to thinking on His name.

This year I have chosen "Everlasting Father" as the name of Jesus that will accompany me 365 days during 2008. I am determined to rest in it, nest in it, and fully be blessed in it.

I have found Isaiah's "Comfort" scriptures to expound on the Fatherhood ministry of Jesus Christ to us. As the Father, so is the Son. It is my desire to build a more intimate, loving, and strong attachment to my Heavenly Father, my Abba Father, my Dad in heaven, and trust him to do all that he promised to do for me and to me in this name. There are 68 passages from Isaiah I have chosen to memorize, meditate, and digest as I think on God and Jesus Christ as my EVERLASTING FATHER. You are welcome to join me on my quest.
