Here is the prayer journal of a man of God. The psalmist often
uttered his grief and pain to the Lord. It is a good thing to get it out in
the open. The Lord knows it is inside of you anyway. In psychology we call that
a "catharsis." It is much like opening a wound so the infection can be drained
out. If you leave it inside it will simply fester, swell, and get worse.
OK, what is YOUR complaint? What is your frustration, or your pain? The Lord
cares. Tell him about it.
Then when it is all out in the open, Then and only then, rehearse who the Lord is and what he has said.
After that remember how the Lord has been faithful in the past in every situation you have faced. Now
confess your faith in his goodness and love for you. It will give courage in the fight and will encourage other
to trust the Lord as well.
Do like David and keep a prayer journal both for recording your cries to the Lord, and recording his answers and faithfulness.
Then, like David, you will be able to say...
3 But You, O LORD, are a shield for me,
My glory and the One who lifts up my head.
4 I cried to the LORD with my voice,
And He heard me from His holy hill. Selah
5 I lay down and slept;
I awoke, for the LORD sustained me.
6 I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people
Who have set themselves against me all around.
