You get the feeling sometimes that David was a troubled man. Indeed, he was.
He was the apple of God's eye. He was one of God's favorite people. But he had trouble. Think about that.
If David, God's favorite son, the aple of his eye, had troubles is it any wonder when we too have troubles.
It was troubled Job said, "Man was born for trouble as the sparks fly upward." (Job 5:7)
David was a crybaby, but in the good sense. He didn't whine and cry in front of people. No, he cried to the Lord
in the privacy of his prayer closet. He said he drenched his bed with tears. Now there is a man's man who was
able to shed tears before the Lord in prayer. Do you? Why not? Are you just trying to be tough or look tough?
David was tough, but he was also tender. He knew that there were times in life that all you can do is cry.
In Psalms 56:8 he says that he knows that God sees every tear and saves them in a bottle. In Revelation we see that
God keeps the prayers of saints like insense in bowls before him. He sees. He knows. He marks it down. He will act
on your behalf.
I love the way David always ended his prayer journal with triumphant praise. His situation did not change but
his attitude did as he remembered the Lord's care and faithfulness.
What do you need to cry about today? Have you had a great loss? A friend, a spouse, a marriage, a job, a position,
some amount of money, something broke and you have to replace it at a great cost? Whatever it is God is listening.
Tell him all about it. He sees and cares.
