Walk Thru The Bible Exodus 1-24 Exodus has many wonderful stories of God's wonderful care, protection, and miraculous power. God introduces himself to his people Israel as a God of justice who will not tolerate sin. Inspite of Israel's sin God's grace shines through. Look for the many "conditional promises" that God gaves to his people. You might want to mark them with a yellow highlighter to make them forever stand out. If you missed any reading or if you only read two chapters per day, make up for lost time by reading for an hour on the Lord's Day. Children's Bible Reading It is not easy for a child to read through the Bible nor to sit and listen to long passages being read. We recommend that if you have children in your home that you read daily one story from Ken Taylor's "The Book." Ken Taylor is the translator of the Living Bible. He did that while commuting by train to and from work so that his children would understand the Scriptures. The children's readings will lag behind adult readings for a while. Just be patient, they will catch up. Monday - 15. A Stairway to Heaven (Genesis 28-31) Tuesday - 16. Jacob's Secret Escape (Genesis 31-32) Wednesday - 17. Is Esau Still Angry? (Genesis 32-33) Thursday - 18. A Great Pile of Stones (Genesis 35-36) Friday - 19. Joseph's Dreams (Genesis 37) Saturday - 20. Strange Dreams in a Jail (Genesis 39-41) Sunday - 21. Joseph's Dreams Come True (Genesis 42) History: Throughout time men have tried to change history by refusing to record certain events, or by reinterpreting events to fit one's world view. Atheists will explain miracles in terms of natural phenomenon, or deny it altogether. Even today men try to change history in our schools, we call them revisionists. Evidently there were revisionists in Egypt as well. Though the events of the Exodus are well documented from the Jewish side, on the other side of the Red Sea there is no mention of Moses nor the Red Sea incident. It would seem there was a contrived effort to erase even the memory of 400 years of Jewish life in Egypt. Questions and Answers: 1. Can you remember the plagues of Egypt in the order they occured? 2. Can you remember the ten commandments in the proper order? 3. What habitual sin repeated itself before and after the Red Sea? 4. Do you believe in angels? Is there an angel of death? 5. How does the Passover relate to the Lord's Supper? What similarities? 6. What other references to lambs do you remember from Genesis and Exodus? 7. What prayer lesson do we learn from Moses, Aaron and Hur? This would be an excellent week to rent the video "The Ten Commandments" and compare it with the Biblical record. It coincides with this week's reading. Last week's lessons were depicted in the movie "Joseph."
