Children's Bible Reading It is not easy for a child to read through the Bible nor to sit and listen to long passages being read. We recommend that if you have children in your home that you read daily one story from Ken Taylor's "The Book." Ken Taylor is the translator of the Living Bible. He did that while commuting by train to and from work so that his children would understand the Scriptures. The children are behind us. They will be reading 2 Samuel while we go to the New Testament to see Jesus and his passion, death and resurrection. Monday - Tuesday - Wednesday - Thursday - Friday - Saturday - Sunday - Commentary: John, the beloved disciple and author of the Gospel by that name, is by now an old man persecuted for his faith in Jesus Christ. He has made his residence in the city of Ephesus where he is well known as the head of the church there. He has also take Jesus' mother, his aunt, Mary, to his own house there where she reportedly died, though her body may have been taken back to Palestine for burial. John was exiled (banished) to the island called Patmos, a penal colony, where prisoners were forced into hard labor. It is there, on the Lord's Day, he has a vision of things to come. This becomes the book of Revelation, otherwise known as the Apocalypse. Promises:
